Quick Summary of AGM

-The Deputy High commissioner of the Maldives High Commission in the UK Mr. Naushad Waheed was the chief guest of the official meeting. The meeting was followed by the dinner and several indoor games which took place until the dawn! Around 40 members of MSA-UK took part in these activities.
-The members decided to invest the money at MSA-UK account at the Bank of Maldives to purchase share from State Trading Organisation Public Limited (STO) after reserving a reasonable amount of money (30%) to clear current debts on the MSA account (the money MSA-UK owes to the Rosemont) and to cover the expenses of upcoming EGM on 2010.
-A decision was made to separate the money of MSA-UK and Rosemont by depositing money in to two separate accounts in order to overcome the current difficulties in distinguishing money of MSA-UK and Rosemont. It was suggested to use MSA-UK account at Bank of Scotland for this purpose.
-Members also agreed to change the signatory of MSA-UK accounts only to Mr.Sodiq who permanently stays in the UK. Current dual signatory system has been causing enormous difficulties in dealing bank transactions.
-It was also decided to negotiate with the government to set aside a certain percentage of Rosemont income for MSA-UK as the property management cost.
-The Deputy High Commissioner gave a very encouraging indication that he will negotiate with the respective government body to re-start receive funding from the government. He also informed that High Commission of the Maldives will provide every possible help to MSA-UK in fund raising including obtaining sponsors to advertise on MSA-UK website.

We are looking forward to hear your ideas and suggestions. Please do not hesitate to share us any difficulties you face during your stay in the UK so that we can do our best to sort that out for you.

Kind regards

Central Committee MSA-UK
